Saturday’s Quote – supports BCTGB

on June 9, 2012

Rain like I rode in yesterday and I’m staying at John O’Groats :-)

Ben Wilkes, Trustee at Border Collie Trust GB-

…said after riding his Ride 4 Care bike to visit Ashbourne Animal Welfare for a photo shoot.  Read on to find out what his plans are and how you can help him and the Collies and other rescue dogs.  I think we can safely assume he won’t stay at John O’Groats even if it does rain!!!!

Ride 4 Care

Ben Wilkes with his Ride 4 Care bike; feeling a little damp!

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Border Collie Trust centre in Staffordshire Ben Wilkes is planning a sponsored motorcycle ride from John O’Groats to Lands End (and he is hoping the rain holds off for at least some of the trip!)
His plan is to visit rescue centres belonging to The Association of Dogs and Cats Homes as he travels down the country to raise awareness of the great work these centre do, and of course to raise vital funds for Border Collie Trust.  In particular he wants to raise funds to support enrichment ideas for the dogs housed at the kennels.
On the BCT web site Ben says “ADCH members are well aware of the importance of improving the lives of the dogs and cats in their care and many rescues, ourselves included have come up with innovative ideas to enrich the time spent both in and out of kennels.”
Read about Ben’s plans here – http://www.bordercollietrustgb.org.uk – go to support us and click on ride 4 care tab down the side of your screen.
How can you help?  Giving him some money would be good of course!
  • There are options on how to do this to make it easy for you.
    • You can donate on-line by going to the Border Collie Trust web site or clicking this link www.justgiving.com/ride4care – here you can donate via paypal very quickly – I have tried it and it takes seconds to do and makes you feel good about yourself for much longer :)
    • Send a cheque payable to Border Collie Trust GB. Heathway, Colton, Rugeley, WS15 3LY – write “Ride 4 Care” on the back
    • You can text your donation – just text RIDE46 followed by the amount you wish to donate (eg RIDE46 £5)to 70070

Text RIDE46 followed by the amount you wish to donate (eg RIDE46 £5) to 70070

      Awareness is also VERY important.

You can help Ben out by spreading the word and getting other people to sponsor him!

    • If you have a blog feel free to reblog this or to mention his ride on your blog with a link so people can donate
    • If you use twitter talk about his ride on there to your followers – you can follow Stan and the Border Collie Trust on Twitter – @Stantheterrier and @BCTGB
    • Check out Border Collie Trust on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/BCTGB
    • Go the Border Collie Trust web site and print off the poster to display at work or anywhere you think people may see it and help out
    • Email Border Collie Trust and ask for a sponsor form – get all your friends, relatives and work colleagues to fill it in and give some much-needed cash – info@bordercollietrustgb.org.uk
The event takes place 22nd and 23rd July so fingers crossed that the rain stops by then.  If you check the Border Collie Trust face book page during the ride there will be updates and Ben will also update followers on twitter on his progress and level of dampness!  You can also be pretty sure I will blog something about how he is getting on especially if we manage to get a funny photo of him looking all wet (- sorry Ben!)
Ben has already passed the £2000 mark in donations received – lets help him take that total even higher!
Stan and I would like to wish him the very best of luck on the ride and ask that he emails us any very silly or embarrassing photos immediately so we can make fun of him oops err emm offer our continued support via our blog, twitter and Facebook!
P.S. Any magazine that would like reports/articles/features about Ben’s endeavour including photos on the route, info about planning and photos and info of the dogs he will be helping etc please contact me as I would happily write an article and would waive my fee in support of the ride – I would ask that any fee is paid directly to Ride 4 Care….
